This online module is designed to introduce students to the marian mystical tradition of the Carmelite Order. It covers topics such as:
This module will introduce students to the principal marian mystics, Mary Magdalene de Pazzi, Michael St. Augustine, Maria Petyt, and Titus Brandsma. It explores the way in which Carmelite spirituality shaped their life and work. After studying the material you will have a better understanding of the role of Mary in the spiritual life. The material is divided into 16 units, four blocks of four units:
The first four units outline the historical and spiritual background and context of Michael of Saint Augustine and Maria Petyt.
The second part of this module, units 5 to 8 deals with the marian life and writings of Venerable Michael of St. Augustine.
The third part with units 9 to 12 introduces Venerable Maria Petyt, who is known as a marian mystic. She was a Third Order Carmelite.
The last section of this module outlines the marian mysticism of Maria Petyt (unit 13 and 14) and presents Blessed Titus Brandsma as a modern icon of the Maryform and Marian life.

The course is divided into 8 units, with 4 questionnaires, spread over the period of the module, and a final examination at the end.
