The Carmelite Institute of Britain & Ireland (CIBI) was set up by the Provincials of the British and Irish Carmelites and Discalced Carmelites in 2005. The purpose of the Institute is to diffuse the Carmelite charism, heritage, and spirituality, by offering introductory and more advanced courses and awards in Carmelite Studies, through part-time distance-learning, to members of the Carmelite Family and others interested in this area. In an accessible but scholarly way, the Institute offers the Carmelite Family, the Church, and all those interested, a structured way of studying Carmel’s heritage and spirituality.
